@pedalingheroine : Learning how to squat with the bar overhead in my “clown shoes” (coach description 🤡 ). I was able to do 35kg overhead while still maintaining good form. This is easy on the legs but requires more control in my core to keep the bar in position. Lots of gainz to be made. 💪💥 Thu, 14 Mar 2019 15:24:38 +0000
@pedalingheroine : Looking very enthusiastic in my turbo dungeon for two hours late this evening. 😑
Yes, those are early Christmas decorations on the left just to keep the place festive...👀😂 Tue, 12 Mar 2019 20:56:57 +0000
@pedalingheroine : “It’s character building” they say. 😑
Actually turned out to be a good day on the bike despite getting caught in an insane blizzard for about ten minutes. 🌨 🥶
Definitely a successful training ride outside if the majority of it wasn’t in the rain...and far less soul destroying than two hours on the turbo. 👍 Sun, 10 Mar 2019 16:34:26 +0000
@pedalingheroine : #tbt to sunshine because I’m feeling sorry for myself. 😂
Updates of off-season:
- catch a headcold ✅
- risk training outside today but get caught in a storm for an hour ✅
- drop phone on said training ride and smash screen ✅
- rant about it on Instagram ✅

@pedalingheroine : I’ve finally recruited one of my besties to the cycling cult! She was FLYING and absolutely loved it. I totally forgot about the basics like “how do I change gears?” “What gear should I be in?” “How do I brake??” 😅
More importantly though I now have another Instagram photographer. 😂👀
Also, thanks to the random man who offered to take a photo of both of us. 🤪 Tue, 05 Mar 2019 14:11:09 +0000
@pedalingheroine : Preparing for pain. 💀
I always like to visualise my race during a warmup. I find it helps me to relax and focus on exactly what I want to achieve. I also don’t listen to music before a race! 😱 I prefer to acclimatise to the stadium environment (commentators, music, crowds) before stepping up to the line. 🤷🏼♀️ I’m pretty sure I’m the only one who doesn’t blast tunes before racing.
Does anyone have any interesting pre-race/effort rituals?
Thanks @gruchaseven for capturing my sweaty head in “the zone”. Mon, 04 Mar 2019 20:25:23 +0000
@pedalingheroine : ⚠️ Occupational hazard. I think I just wanted to be close to @alicessharpe 😂❤️ For everyone asking about the cuts on my knee in my last post we were lucky enough to capture this moment on camera. 🤦🏼♀️ I had been edging closer and closer to the wheel in front of me out of pure survival mode and I knew it was eventually going to bite me in the arse. 💥
Thankfully I came away from this one relatively unscathed considering we were moving at 55+km/h I only ended up with some minor track burn and a bruised ego.
As beautifully illustrated in the last photo I merely ended up sliding 100m until I knocked into Lydia’s bike. 🤪 I remember having enough time mid slide to think: “cool I’m okay but this is embarrassing...I wonder when I’m going to stop”. Needless to say we were back up again a few minutes later for another effort. 💥
Lesson learned: always keep proximity to the wheel in front in order to be able react to unforeseen changes in speed. ✅ Sun, 03 Mar 2019 16:38:16 +0000
@pedalingheroine : I almost didn’t want to post this very cool photo because I idiotically didn’t like how my stomach looked. 🤦🏼♀️😑
That’s the problem with social media - everyone automatically wants to present their “best” selves but reality is often a little more gritty.
I LOVE this photo with it’s veins, scabs and rolls. 🤪
